Falkawn, Jan 16, 2025: In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in Mizoram, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has extended Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance worth ₹62.38 lakh to Zoram Medical College & Hospital (ZMC&H), Falkawn, for the procurement of critical medical equipment aimed at enhancing patient care and emergency medical services.
The assistance was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Director of Zoram Medical College & Hospital and Malati Makar, Senior Manager (HR–CSR), IndianOil AOD State Office, during a programme held on Thursday. The agreement marks another significant collaboration between a leading public sector undertaking and a key healthcare institution in Mizoram.
Under the CSR initiative, the grant will be utilized to procure essential medical equipment, including an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance, a Diathermy Machine, and C-Arm imaging equipment. These facilities are expected to substantially improve the hospital’s ability to provide timely emergency care, perform advanced surgical procedures, and enhance diagnostic accuracy.
Hospital authorities noted that the acquisition of an Advanced Life Support Ambulance will strengthen emergency response capabilities by enabling critically ill patients to receive advanced medical support while being transported to healthcare facilities. The Diathermy Machine will aid surgeons by providing precise tissue cutting and coagulation during surgical procedures, while the C-Arm system will improve real-time imaging during orthopedic, trauma, and other specialized interventions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Zoram Medical College & Hospital expressed gratitude to Indian Oil Corporation Limited for its valuable contribution toward improving healthcare services in the state. He stated that the support would directly benefit patients by enhancing the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of medical care provided at the institution.
The Director further emphasized that as the state's premier medical college and referral hospital, ZMC&H continues to experience increasing demand for advanced healthcare services. The newly procured equipment will help the hospital meet growing healthcare needs while strengthening its role as a major healthcare provider for people across Mizoram.
Addressing the gathering, Malati Makar reaffirmed IndianOil’s commitment to community welfare and social development through its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. She highlighted that healthcare remains one of the key focus areas of the company's CSR initiatives and stressed the importance of supporting institutions that provide essential services to the public.
She noted that investments in healthcare infrastructure not only improve patient outcomes but also contribute to the overall well-being and development of society. IndianOil, she added, remains committed to partnering with institutions and communities to create sustainable and meaningful social impact.
Officials observed that the partnership reflects the growing role of public sector enterprises in supporting critical sectors such as healthcare. By combining government healthcare efforts with corporate social responsibility initiatives, such collaborations can significantly strengthen medical infrastructure and improve service delivery.
The CSR assistance is expected to have a lasting impact on healthcare services at Zoram Medical College & Hospital, enabling it to provide more advanced treatment, faster emergency response, and improved patient care. The initiative also underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in enhancing healthcare facilities and ensuring better health outcomes for the people of Mizoram.
