Kohima, Jan 26: In a significant step towards promoting digital commerce and strengthening Nagaland’s cooperative sector, Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio on Sunday launched MARCOFED’s e-commerce platform, NagaBazaar.com, at the Secretariat Complex in Kohima as part of the state’s 77th Republic Day celebrations.
The newly launched platform, accessible through www.nagabazaar.com, has been envisioned as a comprehensive digital marketplace that will connect producers, cooperatives, farmers, artisans and entrepreneurs directly with consumers. The initiative aims to create new economic opportunities, improve market access and strengthen local supply chains while ensuring fair pricing for both producers and buyers.
Officials described the launch as a major milestone in Nagaland’s journey towards a more technology-driven and self-reliant economy. They noted that NagaBazaar aligns with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, leveraging digital innovation to empower local communities and promote sustainable economic growth.
According to MARCOFED, the platform has been designed to address challenges associated with traditional retail systems by integrating modern e-commerce solutions. Through NagaBazaar, local producers will be able to showcase and market their products to a broader customer base, thereby reducing dependence on intermediaries and enhancing income opportunities.
The platform will feature a diverse range of products, including agricultural produce, handicrafts, handloom items, processed foods and other locally sourced goods. By providing a dedicated marketplace for Nagaland’s products, the initiative seeks to highlight the state’s rich resources, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial potential.
Currently, delivery services are available in Dimapur and Chümoukedima, with plans to gradually expand operations to other districts in the coming phases. Officials stated that the phased expansion strategy will help ensure efficient service delivery while building a robust logistics network across the state.

Speaking about the initiative, MARCOFED emphasized that NagaBazaar is more than just an online shopping portal. The platform is intended to create a vibrant and inclusive ecosystem that combines the strengths of traditional commerce with the convenience of digital technology. It aims to foster stronger connections between producers and consumers while encouraging greater participation in the digital economy.
The launch of NagaBazaar on Republic Day underscored the Nagaland Government’s commitment to innovation, cooperative empowerment and economic transformation. As the platform grows, it is expected to play a key role in supporting local enterprises, generating livelihoods and positioning Nagaland as an emerging participant in India’s expanding digital marketplace.
