Maibang, Jan 16: Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa on Friday inaugurated an additional classroom at Maibang Degree College along with a newly constructed approach road and Baikho (community hall) at Sainjapur village, reaffirming the Council's commitment to strengthening educational facilities and improving rural infrastructure across the district.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by DHAC Chairman Mohet Hojai, Executive Member Biswajit Daulagupu, and Members of the Autonomous Council Monjoy Langthasa, Rupali Langthasa, Ratan Jarambusa, Pronath Rajiyung, and Ajoy Chakraborty. Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Maibang Mandal, including Mandal President Pronin Jidung and Mahila Mandal President Sanjita Longmailai, along with Gaon Burahs (GBs), community leaders, and local residents, also participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, CEM Gorlosa emphasized that quality education remains one of the key priorities of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council. He said the newly constructed classroom at Maibang Degree College would help address the shortage of academic space, improve the learning environment, and provide students with better facilities to pursue higher education.
Highlighting the importance of balanced development, Gorlosa also said the newly built approach road at Sainjapur village would significantly improve connectivity for residents, facilitating easier transportation and better access to essential services. The newly inaugurated Baikho, a traditional community hall, is expected to serve as an important venue for social, cultural, and community gatherings, helping preserve local traditions while strengthening community bonds.
The CEM reiterated the Council's commitment to undertaking development projects that directly benefit people in both urban and rural areas of Dima Hasao. He assured residents that more initiatives aimed at improving education, connectivity, healthcare, and public infrastructure would be implemented in the coming years.
Local residents welcomed the projects and expressed appreciation to the DHAC leadership for prioritizing the development needs of Maibang. They said the new facilities would not only enhance educational opportunities but also improve the quality of life for villagers by promoting better infrastructure and community development across the region.
