Guwahati, Jan 15: The Assam Football Association (AFA) on Thursday announced the final 22-member squad that will represent the Assam State Senior Men's Football Team in the final rounds of the Santosh Trophy 2025–26, one of India's most prestigious domestic football championships.
The final phase of the tournament will be hosted in Dhakuakhana and Silapathar from January 21 to February 8, 2026, providing Assam with the opportunity to stage the national competition on home soil. The hosting of the tournament has generated excitement among football enthusiasts across the state, with expectations high for a strong performance by the home team.
According to the AFA, the squad was selected based on the players' performances during the preparatory coaching camp held at Dhemaji from January 7, 2026. The intensive training camp was designed to assess fitness, teamwork, and individual performances before the final team selection.
The goalkeeping department will be led by Satyajit Bordoloi, Navajyoti Ayan, and Ayan.
The defensive line comprises Dipu Gohain, Sudem Wary, Didwm Hazowary, Ambar Chetri, Nabin Rabha, Danswrang Basumatary, and Rustom Brahma, who will be responsible for providing stability at the back.
In midfield, the team will rely on Timothi Narzary, Rituraj Mohan, Jangminlun Kuki, Pragyan Sundar Gogoi, and Rishiraj Boruah to control possession and create scoring opportunities.
The attacking unit includes Subham Chetry, Sudeepta Konwar, Akrang Narzary, Dipu Mirdha, Gwgwmsar Goyary, Anupom Borgohain, Pranjal Bhumij, and Mayukh Gogoi, giving the team a variety of options in the final third.
The AFA also stated that, in case of injuries or emergencies, additional players registered on the All India Football Federation (AIFF) CMS portal may be called into the squad, subject to AIFF approval.
With the Santosh Trophy returning to Assam, football fans are hopeful that the home team will capitalize on familiar conditions and enthusiastic local support to make a deep run in the tournament.
