Guwahati, January 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the traditional Bagurumba Dwhou dance of the Bodo community has gained unprecedented global attention following its promotion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Chief Minister, global Google search interest for the Bagurumba dance has reached its highest level in over two decades, marking a significant milestone for Assam’s cultural heritage. He noted that the dance form has crossed 200 million views across the Prime Minister’s social media platforms alone, reflecting its growing international visibility.

Calling it a powerful moment for indigenous culture, Sarma said a single instance of national spotlight has helped take this graceful expression of Bodo heritage from Assam’s soil to the global stage. He described the development as an example of how India is celebrating its roots while sharing its diverse cultural traditions with the world.
