Guwahati/Davos, Jan 18: Assam has stepped into the global spotlight at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 being held in Davos, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma representing the state at the prestigious international forum.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office Assam, the Chief Minister will participate in a series of high-level sessions and discussions focusing on key global themes, including building a future-ready workforce, strengthening global and multilateral partnerships, unlocking tourism potential, and advancing health and healthcare transformation.

Dr. Sarma is scheduled to engage in sessions such as Securing a Future-Ready Workforce for the Next Industrial Era, multilateral interactions between the Government of India delegation and WEF leadership, discussions on Travel and Tourism: The $10 Trillion Blind Spot, and the Health and Healthcare Forum. These engagements aim to position Assam as an emerging destination for investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

Officials said Assam’s participation at WEF 2026 places the state firmly within the global narrative on growth, opportunity, and future-oriented development. The discussions are expected to highlight Assam’s strategic advantages, reform-driven governance, and its growing role in India’s economic and developmental trajectory.
