Dima Hasao, January 24: Highlighting the BJP’s development-driven agenda, as many as 52 workers from the Indian National Congress (INC) joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a programme held in Diyungbra on Saturday. The new entrants included youth, senior citizens, and women from various communities of the region, who cited the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as their inspiration.
The joining programme was held in the presence of Dhriti Thaosen, District BJP President and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), along with Executive Member Monjit Naiding. Other dignitaries present included MACs Rupali Langthasa, Ratan Jarambusa, and Monjoy Langthasa. BJP ST Morcha District Committee Secretary Kadhar Daulagupu, Diyungbra Mandal President Denath Langthasa, Diyungbra Mandal Treasurer Phukan Phonglo, and party karyakartas also attended the event.
Ahead of the joining programme, the newly constructed PWD Inspection Bungalow (IB) at Diyungbra was inaugurated. Party leaders said the new facility would play an important role in ensuring accountability, efficiency, and comfort for officials during administrative and development-related activities in the area.
Later in the day, community infrastructure projects were also inaugurated as part of the Busu season celebrations. The ‘Baikho’ of Dima Longku village and the Dibrom Raji Lower Primary School at Umrangso were inaugurated in the presence of Executive Member Monjit Naiding and MACs Ratan Jarambusa, Monjoy Langthasa, and Rupali Langthasa.

Leaders said these new infrastructures would greatly benefit residents of Dima Longku village and Dibrom Raji village, both of which were established only a few years ago. The projects are expected to strengthen basic amenities, promote education, and improve the overall quality of life in the newly developed settlements.
The events underscored the BJP’s emphasis on grassroots development, political outreach, and inclusive growth in the hill district of Dima Hasao.
