Agartala, Dec 15: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated the two-day ‘Khelo Tripura Para Games–2025’ at the Dasharath Dev State Sports Complex in Agartala, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to promoting inclusive sports and creating equal opportunities for athletes with disabilities.
The event brought together para-athletes from different districts of Tripura, providing them with a platform to showcase their sporting abilities, compete at a high level and inspire others through their achievements. The tournament forms part of the state’s broader efforts to encourage participation in sports among differently-abled individuals and to foster a more inclusive sporting culture.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Dr. Saha praised the determination, resilience and extraordinary talent of the participating athletes. He said the para games represent much more than a sporting competition, as they embody the values of courage, perseverance and the ability to overcome challenges.
“The achievements of our para-athletes remind us that determination and hard work can overcome any obstacle. These games are a celebration of talent, confidence and the indomitable spirit of our athletes,” the Chief Minister said.
Dr. Saha noted that sporting events such as the Khelo Tripura Para Games play a crucial role in promoting social inclusion and changing perceptions about disability. He emphasized that sports provide a powerful platform for empowerment, enabling athletes to build confidence, develop leadership skills and gain recognition for their accomplishments.
The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all participants, describing the event as a “wonderful initiative that empowers and motivates every athlete to reach new heights.” He encouraged the athletes to continue pursuing excellence and to serve as role models for future generations.
