Agartala, December 5, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Friday chaired an important Board Meeting of the Tripura Urban Development Authority (TUDA) at the TIFT Hall Room in Agartala, where the progress of key urban infrastructure projects and future development strategies were comprehensively reviewed.
The meeting brought together senior government officials, urban planners and representatives of various departments to assess the status of ongoing projects and discuss measures to strengthen urban governance across the state. Particular emphasis was placed on improving civic infrastructure, enhancing public services and ensuring sustainable urban growth in line with the state's long-term development objectives.
During the review, officials presented detailed updates on a range of development initiatives, including road construction and upgradation projects, drainage improvement works, sanitation and waste management systems, water supply infrastructure and various smart city interventions. The Chief Minister examined the progress of these projects and directed concerned departments to ensure their timely completion while maintaining quality standards.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Saha reiterated the government's commitment to building a cleaner, smarter and more citizen-centric urban environment. He stated that rapid urbanisation presents both opportunities and challenges, making it essential for authorities to adopt forward-looking planning and efficient management practices.
“Urban development is not limited to constructing roads and buildings. It is about creating livable cities with quality public services, sustainable infrastructure and better opportunities for citizens,” the Chief Minister said.
He stressed that improved urban infrastructure plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of life of residents, attracting investment and supporting economic growth. The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of integrating technology-driven solutions into urban management systems to improve service delivery, transparency and efficiency.
The meeting further discussed strategies to accelerate project execution and strengthen coordination among various government departments and agencies involved in urban development. Officials explored innovative approaches to address emerging challenges such as traffic management, waste disposal, water conservation, environmental sustainability and urban expansion.
Dr. Saha underscored the need for sustainable and inclusive development, ensuring that the benefits of urban growth reach all sections of society. He noted that urban planning must focus not only on infrastructure creation but also on environmental protection, public health and accessibility for vulnerable groups.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government remains committed to transforming Tripura into a model of modern urban governance through planned development and efficient implementation of public projects. He said that initiatives undertaken by TUDA are aligned with the broader vision of creating resilient and future-ready cities capable of meeting the needs of a growing population.
Officials said several new urban development proposals were also discussed during the meeting, with a focus on improving public amenities and expanding infrastructure in emerging urban centres. Detailed project plans and implementation timelines are expected to be finalized in the coming months.
The TUDA Board Meeting marks another step in Tripura’s ongoing efforts to modernize its urban landscape and strengthen civic infrastructure. With sustained investments in roads, sanitation, drainage, smart city projects and public services, the state aims to create more efficient, inclusive and sustainable urban centres that support long-term economic and social development.
