Gangtok, December 5: In a significant development for the Sikkim Civil Service (SCS), two senior officers from the 2002 batch - Ms. Sarika Pradhan and Ms. Norzing Tsering Shenga - have been formally inducted into the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) against vacancies earmarked for the Select List of 2024.
Ms. Sarika Pradhan is currently serving as Secretary, Social Welfare Department, while Ms. Norzing Tsering Shenga holds the position of Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Department. Their elevation marks an important milestone in their careers and reinforces Sikkim’s administrative strength.
The induction was notified under the powers vested in the government as per Rule 8(1) of the IAS (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, read with Regulation 9(1) of the IAS (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, and Rule 3 of the IAS (Probation) Rules, 1954. Both officers have been appointed to the IAS on probation until further orders.
They have been allocated to the Sikkim Cadre under Rule 5(1) of the IAS (Cadre) Rules, 1954, and will continue to serve the state within the IAS framework, taking on broader roles and responsibilities.
The induction of Ms. Pradhan and Ms. Shenga reflects the State’s ongoing commitment to recognising merit and strengthening governance through experienced and capable administrative leadership.
