Imphal, December 5, 2025: The Manipur State Kala Akademi Awards 2023–24 were presented today at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), where Governor of Manipur graced the occasion and honoured 69 outstanding artistes for their contributions across diverse fields of art and culture.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone as the State successfully cleared a two-year awards backlog under the guidance of the Governor, ensuring that all deserving artistes received timely and long-awaited recognition. Officials noted that this initiative underscores Manipur’s commitment to nurturing creativity, preserving its artistic heritage, and encouraging excellence across generations.
The awardees represent a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines—including classical and traditional dance, music, theatre, folk arts, literature, painting, craft, and indigenous cultural expressions—reflecting the richness and diversity of Manipur’s cultural landscape.
In his remarks, the Governor congratulated the recipients and reaffirmed the State’s dedication to supporting artistes and cultural practitioners. He emphasised that the awards not only celebrate individual achievement but also highlight Manipur’s enduring legacy as a vibrant centre of art and culture.
