Jorethang, Dec 9: Sikkim is set to witness one of its largest celebrations of talent, culture, and creativity as preparations gather pace for the Maghey Sankranti Mela 2026 in Jorethang. The state government has announced a series of high-profile competitions, including Golden Voice Sikkim, Golden Feet Sikkim, Golden Beat Sikkim, and the Classic Traditional Showcase, aimed at promoting local talent and strengthening the creative economy.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), who emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for artists, performers, musicians, dancers, and cultural practitioners to showcase their abilities on a grand platform. The initiative is expected to encourage wider participation from youth while celebrating Sikkim’s rich cultural diversity and artistic heritage.
Residents from across the state with talents in singing, dancing, music, and traditional arts have been invited to participate. Organisers have opened online registration facilities, while spot registration will also be available for those who wish to enroll at the venue. Detailed information regarding eligibility criteria, competition guidelines, audition schedules, and rules has been made available through the official registration portal.
To attract participation and reward excellence, substantial prize money has been announced for the competitions. Winners of Golden Feet Sikkim will receive prizes of ₹30 lakh, ₹20 lakh, and ₹10 lakh for the top three positions. In Golden Voice Sikkim, the first, second, and third prize winners will receive ₹7 lakh, ₹5 lakh, and ₹3 lakh respectively. Golden Beat Sikkim offers prize money of ₹10 lakh, ₹7 lakh, and ₹5 lakh for the top performers. Prize details for the Classic Traditional Showcase will be announced separately.
The event is expected to draw large crowds and participants from across Sikkim, transforming the Maghey Sankranti Mela into a vibrant celebration of talent, culture, and community spirit while providing emerging artists with a prestigious platform to shine.
