Nagaland CineFest 2025 Concludes with Masterclasses, Screenings and Valedictory Session

Kohima, Dec 9: The three-day Nagaland CineFest 2025 concluded on Tuesday, marking the successful culmination of a vibrant celebration of cinema, storytelling and creative expression. The festival brought together filmmakers, students, aspiring content creators, industry professionals and film enthusiasts from across Nagaland, providing a unique platform for learning, networking and cultural exchange.

The valedictory session was graced by Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), who attended as the Special Guest. Addressing the gathering, Metha highlighted the growing potential of Nagaland’s creative economy and encouraged young filmmakers to embrace innovation and explore new storytelling formats in an increasingly digital world.

He emphasized that cinema and visual storytelling have emerged as powerful tools for preserving culture, sharing local narratives and creating opportunities for youth. He also expressed confidence that Nagaland’s creative talent can make a significant mark on regional, national and international platforms.

Earlier, Director of Information and Public Relations, Dzüvinuo Theünuo, welcomed participants and expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic response to the festival. She acknowledged the support of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, for helping make the event a success.

The final day of the festival featured a series of engaging sessions designed to enhance participants’ understanding of filmmaking and visual storytelling. A Masterclass on Film Appreciation conducted by writer-director Niyaz Mujawar explored cinematic language, narrative structure and the art of visual storytelling. This was followed by a practical session on Smartphone Filmmaking led by filmmaker and strategist Adarsh Jain, who demonstrated how modern mobile technology can be used to create compelling films and digital content.

In the afternoon, participants attended a screening of “The Missing Tourist,” a film produced by Dreamz Unlimited in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).

Organisers stated that Nagaland CineFest 2025 successfully fostered a deeper appreciation for cinema while creating opportunities for aspiring filmmakers to learn from industry experts. They expressed hope that future editions of the festival would grow further in scale and continue to strengthen Nagaland’s emerging film and creative industry.
