Nagaland Hosts Digital Entrepreneurship & Startup Fest at NIELIT Kohima

Kohima, Dec 9: The Nagaland Digital Entrepreneurship & Startup Fest was successfully held at the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima, bringing together entrepreneurs, innovators, students, technology enthusiasts and industry stakeholders for a day dedicated to fostering digital innovation and entrepreneurship in the state.

The event was jointly organised by NIELIT Kohima and the Department of Information Technology & Communication (IT&C), Government of Nagaland, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s digital ecosystem and encourage youth participation in emerging technology sectors.

The inaugural programme was graced by S. Krishnan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, who attended as the Special Guest. Addressing participants, he highlighted the transformative role of digital technologies in driving economic growth, creating employment opportunities and equipping young people with skills required in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Krishnan emphasized the importance of innovation, entrepreneurship and digital literacy in shaping the future economy. He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs and students to leverage emerging technologies to develop solutions that can address local challenges while contributing to national development.

The startup fest served as an important platform for startups, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs to present their ideas, products and services. Participants had the opportunity to interact with experts, industry leaders and mentors, gaining valuable insights into business development, funding opportunities and technological innovation.

A series of workshops, panel discussions, demonstrations and interactive sessions were organised during the event. These sessions focused on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, electronics, digital services and startup development. The programmes were designed to enhance digital skills, encourage innovation and provide practical knowledge to participants.

Officials from NIELIT Kohima and the Department of IT&C underscored the significance of such initiatives in nurturing a vibrant startup culture in Nagaland. They noted that strengthening entrepreneurship and technology-driven innovation is essential for creating employment opportunities and promoting sustainable economic growth.
