Aizawl, Dec 9, 2025: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday held an important meeting with Vumlunmang Vualnam, IAS, Secretary, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, to discuss a range of financial and developmental issues concerning the state. The meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s Office in Aizawl and focused on strengthening coordination between the state government and the Union Ministry of Finance to facilitate the smooth implementation of key projects and improve financial management systems.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the progress of the newly approved SASCI Project, a major initiative that Mizoram has recently secured from the Central Government. He briefed the Union Expenditure Secretary on the project's objectives, expected benefits, and the importance of timely financial support to ensure its successful execution.
The discussions also covered a broad spectrum of financial matters, including the state's fiscal position, fund flow mechanisms, expenditure management, and the efficient utilization of centrally sponsored schemes. Particular attention was given to the implementation of the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), which plays a critical role in monitoring government expenditure, ensuring transparency, and improving accountability in public finance.
Officials present at the meeting emphasized the need for streamlined financial processes to facilitate faster release and utilization of funds for development projects. Both sides explored ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the state government and the Ministry of Finance to address procedural bottlenecks and enhance the efficiency of fund management.
The Chief Minister also discussed priority sectors requiring sustained financial support and stressed the importance of timely allocation of resources for infrastructure development, public welfare programmes, and other strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating economic growth in the state.
The meeting was attended by Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary to the Chief Minister, who participated in the deliberations and provided inputs on various administrative and financial matters.
Officials described the interaction as constructive and productive, noting that it provided an opportunity to review ongoing projects and address key financial concerns facing the state. They expressed confidence that the discussions would contribute to improved financial governance, better coordination with the Centre, and more effective implementation of development programmes.
The engagement also underscored the commitment of both the Mizoram Government and the Ministry of Finance to work together in ensuring that critical projects receive the necessary support and that public resources are utilized efficiently for the benefit of the people of Mizoram.
As the state continues to pursue ambitious development goals, the meeting is expected to pave the way for stronger financial collaboration and enhanced support for priority initiatives that will contribute to long-term growth and sustainable development in Mizoram.
