Rymbai, Dec 9: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of various schemes being implemented by the PHE Electrical Sub-Division, Rymbai, in East Jaintia Hills district.
The meeting focused on the status and coverage of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) and the Rymbai Greater Water Supply Scheme, two major initiatives aimed at improving water accessibility in the region.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on challenges faced by the sub-division and provided updates on ongoing works, projected timelines, and the overall progress of departmental schemes. They also emphasised the necessity of establishing a dedicated PHE Division in East Jaintia Hills to ensure better implementation, coordination, and monitoring of projects.
During the review, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all anganwadi centres and schools receive FHTCs, noting their importance for public health and child welfare. He further stressed the need for greater community involvement, urging intensified awareness campaigns and active engagement with local communities to ensure long-term success of PHE initiatives.
The review meeting underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening water supply infrastructure and improving service delivery across the district.
