Assam CM Meets Union Finance Minister in Delhi, Discusses Development and Welfare Priorities

New Delhi, Dec 15: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday met Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to discuss a wide range of financial, developmental, and welfare-related issues concerning the state. The meeting reaffirmed the close coordination between the Centre and the Assam Government in advancing the state's growth agenda.

During the discussions, Chief Minister Sarma outlined Assam's key priorities in areas such as infrastructure development, economic growth, public welfare, and implementation of major projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the people. He also highlighted the state's efforts to accelerate development through investments in roads, healthcare, education, digital infrastructure, and employment generation.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Union Finance Minister for the Central Government's continued financial assistance and policy support, which he said have significantly contributed to Assam's rapid transformation in recent years. He acknowledged the Ministry of Finance's role in enabling the implementation of several flagship projects and development programmes across the state.

Dr. Sarma reiterated that the Assam Government remains committed to ensuring inclusive and sustainable development by maintaining close cooperation with the Union Government. He noted that regular consultations with the Centre are essential for addressing the state's evolving developmental needs and ensuring the timely execution of priority projects.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, the meeting also focused on strengthening financial cooperation and discussing measures to support Assam's long-term economic growth. The leaders reviewed issues related to public welfare, infrastructure expansion, and initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, enhancing connectivity, and boosting investment in the state.
