The new facility, named in memory of late Dorjee Khandu, former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, is expected to significantly enhance the academic environment of the institution and provide improved learning opportunities for students from Tawang and other remote areas of the state. The inauguration ceremony was attended by public representatives, government officials, educators, students and members of the local community.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Khandu said the new building symbolizes the state government’s commitment to investing in education and creating opportunities for the younger generation. He noted that quality educational infrastructure is essential for nurturing talent and empowering youth to contribute meaningfully to society.

“This new Administrative and Academic Block is another firm step towards nurturing the next generation of thinkers, leaders and change-makers from the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh. Education remains one of the strongest foundations for the progress of our state and our people,” Khandu said.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening educational institutions in remote and border regions, emphasizing that students should have access to modern facilities and a conducive learning environment regardless of their geographical location. He added that investments in education are investments in the future of the state.

The event was attended by legislators Shri Phurpa Tsering, Shri Mutchu Mithi, Smt. Tsering Lhamu and Shri Namgey Tsering, along with senior government officials and representatives from the education sector. The dignitaries praised the development and expressed confidence that the upgraded infrastructure would help the college achieve greater academic excellence.

Officials stated that the new block will provide enhanced administrative facilities, additional classrooms and improved academic spaces, enabling the college to better serve its growing student population. The infrastructure is also expected to support the introduction of new educational initiatives and improve overall institutional efficiency.

The inauguration reflects the Arunachal Pradesh government’s ongoing efforts to expand access to quality education and strengthen higher learning institutions across the state. By improving educational facilities in far-flung districts such as Tawang, the government aims to ensure that students from remote mountain communities receive opportunities comparable to those available elsewhere in the country.

The new Administrative and Academic Block stands as a tribute to the legacy of late Dorjee Khandu and a symbol of the state’s vision for a brighter, more educated future driven by empowered and skilled youth.
