No Thadou Candidates Opt for Imphal Centre Despite Safety Assurances from TSA

Imphal, November 8, 2025: Despite assurances of safety and logistical support from the Thadou Students’ Association (TSA), not a single Thadou candidate has opted to appear for the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive (Main) Examination 2022 at the Imphal centre.

No Thadou Candidates Opt for Imphal Centre Despite Safety Assurances from TSA

The examination, conducted by the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) from November 7 to 9, 2025, offered multiple centres, including Imphal and Guwahati. However, sources confirmed that all Thadou candidates have chosen to appear from Guwahati, avoiding the state capital amid continuing tensions in Manipur.

Earlier, TSA, led by its president Michael Lamjathang, had publicly assured candidates of full assistance if they chose Imphal as their examination venue. The association had promised travel, accommodation, and security arrangements for aspirants, particularly for those displaced or affected by the state’s volatile situation.

The decision by candidates to choose Guwahati, despite these guarantees, highlights persistent security concerns and the lack of confidence among hill-based communities in the safety conditions in Imphal.

TSA has not yet issued an official response to the development, though the association had reiterated its commitment to supporting Thadou aspirants in their pursuit of civil services despite the prevailing circumstances.
