Dhalai, Nov 6: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Thursday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to youth empowerment, skill development and inclusive growth while addressing the State-level Toolkits Distribution Ceremony for skilled Bru candidates at Chailengta Bazar Playground in Dhalai district.
The programme was organized to support trained Bru youth by providing them with toolkits that would enable them to utilize their skills, pursue self-employment opportunities and achieve financial independence. The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen livelihood opportunities among tribal communities and promote sustainable economic development in rural areas.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said that empowering young people through skill development is one of the key priorities of the government. He emphasized that the future progress of Tripura depends on the productive engagement of its youth, particularly those belonging to Janajati communities, who play an important role in the state's social and economic development.
“The government is committed to creating opportunities for every young person to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society. Skill development and entrepreneurship are essential pillars of our vision for a prosperous and developed Tripura,” the Chief Minister said.
He noted that various skill-training programmes are being implemented across the state to equip youth with industry-relevant skills and enhance their employability. By distributing toolkits to trained candidates, the government aims to help them translate their skills into income-generating activities and reduce dependence on traditional forms of employment.
In addition to the toolkit distribution, Dr. Saha virtually inaugurated several important infrastructure projects in Dhalai district. These included the newly constructed building of Chawmanu Class-XII School (Vidyajyoti), the Chawmanu Fire Station, the Executive Engineer’s Office of the Rural Development Department at Manu, and a Way Side Amenity Centre at Manu.
The Chief Minister said these projects reflect the government’s commitment to improving public infrastructure and delivering better services to people in remote and rural areas. The new school building is expected to strengthen educational facilities and provide a better learning environment for students, while the fire station will enhance emergency response capabilities and public safety in the region.
Similarly, the Executive Engineer’s Office will help improve the implementation and monitoring of rural development projects, while the Way Side Amenity Centre is expected to benefit travelers and promote local economic activity.
Dr. Saha stated that the government is pursuing a holistic development agenda that combines investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment generation and social welfare. He added that special attention is being given to tribal and border areas to ensure that development reaches every corner of the state.
The Chief Minister reiterated that these initiatives are aligned with the vision of “Viksit Tripura”, which seeks to create a prosperous, inclusive and self-reliant state. He expressed confidence that continued investments in human resource development and infrastructure would accelerate socio-economic progress and improve the quality of life for people across Tripura.
The event was attended by local representatives, government officials, community leaders and beneficiaries, who welcomed the government’s efforts to empower youth and strengthen development infrastructure in Dhalai district.
