Guwahati, Nov 6: In a significant initiative aimed at supporting young graduates as they transition from education to employment, the Assam Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has launched the Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme. The programme is designed to provide financial assistance to fresh graduates while encouraging them to pursue employment, higher studies, competitive examinations, or self-employment opportunities.
Under the scheme, eligible graduates will receive ₹2,500 per month for a period of one year, offering temporary financial support during the critical phase of job searching and career preparation. The assistance is expected to help beneficiaries meet expenses related to competitive examination coaching, skill development, travel for interviews, entrepreneurship, or other employment-related activities.
The state government said the initiative reflects its commitment to youth empowerment and human resource development by reducing financial barriers faced by graduates after completing their education. Officials believe the scheme will encourage young people to continue developing their skills and explore diverse career opportunities rather than being constrained by economic challenges.
The Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme forms part of Assam’s broader strategy to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and employment by promoting self-reliance among educated youth. It also complements the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen skill development, entrepreneurship, and workforce participation across the state.
Applications for the scheme are open until November 30, 2025, and eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the designated government portal. The government has urged fresh graduates to take advantage of the opportunity and complete the application process before the deadline.
To facilitate easy access to the scheme, the application process has been made available through the official portal at dids.assam.gov.in. A dedicated helpline (80998 97266) has also been established to assist applicants with registration and other queries.
Officials expressed confidence that the scheme would benefit thousands of graduates across Assam by easing financial pressures during their job search while fostering confidence, entrepreneurship, and long-term economic self-sufficiency among the state's youth.
