Tripura CM Distributes Sharadiya Gifts Ahead of Durga Puja

Agartala, September 24, 2025: As Tripura gears up for the grand celebrations of Sharadiya Durgotsav, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Wednesday distributed clothes as Sharadiya gifts to women in different parts of Agartala, extending festive cheer and goodwill ahead of Durga Puja.

The distribution programme was held in Ward No. 20 in front of the historic Ujjayanta Palace and later in the Ramnagar area of Ward No. 16. During the event, the Chief Minister personally handed over clothes to mothers and sisters from the local community, interacting with residents and conveying his best wishes for the upcoming festival.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said that festivals play an important role in strengthening social bonds and fostering a spirit of unity and compassion. He noted that Durga Puja is not only a religious occasion but also a cultural celebration that brings together people from all walks of life.

“Durga Puja is a festival of joy, togetherness and sharing. These small gestures are meant to bring smiles to people’s faces and strengthen the bonds within our communities,” the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Saha also extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state and prayed to Goddess Durga for peace, prosperity, good health and happiness for every family in Tripura. He expressed hope that the festival would inspire harmony, mutual respect and collective progress among all sections of society.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of reaching out to people at the grassroots level, especially during festive occasions, and ensuring that the spirit of celebration is shared by everyone. He said such initiatives help strengthen the connection between public representatives and citizens while promoting social inclusiveness.

The programme was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, district party leaders, local representatives and other dignitaries. Residents expressed appreciation for the gesture and welcomed the opportunity to celebrate the festive season with community support.

Durga Puja is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in Tripura, drawing large numbers of devotees and visitors to beautifully decorated pandals across the state. Preparations for the festival are already underway, with communities, cultural organizations and local committees making arrangements for religious rituals, cultural programmes and social activities.

The Chief Minister’s outreach programme reflects the state government's continued emphasis on community engagement and social welfare, particularly during major festivals that hold deep cultural and spiritual significance for the people of Tripura.
