Imphal, 7 September 2025: In a major security operation today, forces in Manipur recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from Sekmai Pangantabi in Imphal West district and arrested six insurgents linked to proscribed organizations.
According to Manipur Police, the recovered items include:
• 1 x 7.62 SLR with magazine
• 1 x modified .303 rifle (without bolt) with magazine
• 4 x single barrel rifles
• 1 x revolver
• 1 x .22 pistol with magazine
• 2 x IEDs
• 5 x .303 ammunition rounds
• 5 x 7.62mm rounds
• 4 x ballistic protection vests
• 10 x barrel cartridges
• 2 x BAOFENG handheld communication sets
• 4 x bags containing related items
In a separate operation, two active cadres of the KCP (Apunba), Angom Silky Devi (22) and Oinam Niranjit Singh alias Alex (21), both residents of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai, were arrested from their residence under Singjamei Police Station. They were involved in extortion and youth recruitment for their banned organization. Two mobile phones were seized from their possession.
Meanwhile, in Tengnoupal district, four cadres belonging to various banned outfits were arrested near Border Pillar 73 in Chongjang under Moreh Police Station. The arrested cadres were identified as:
• i.Ch. Thoiba Singh (20), Sekmai, Imphal West (KCP-MFL)
• Pukhrambam Tondonba Singh (19), Nachou, Bishnupur (UNLF-K)
• Kh. Thoithoiba Singh (18), Pallel, Kakching (PLA)
• Mayanglambam Borish Singh (21), Kakching Wairi, Kakching (PLA)
The arrests and seizures mark another step in the state’s ongoing efforts to curb insurgency, prevent recruitment of youth into extremist groups, and ensure peace and security in the region. Security forces have reiterated their commitment to eliminating the threat posed by such groups while safeguarding the safety of the public.
