NEW DELHI, September 5: Dr. Proshanto Kumar Saha, Head of the Department of Psychology at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Arunachal Pradesh, has been conferred the prestigious National Teachers’ Award 2025 by President of India Droupadi Murmu in recognition of his exceptional contributions to higher education, research and academic leadership.
The award was presented during a Teachers’ Day ceremony held in New Delhi, where 21 distinguished faculty members from higher education institutions across the country were honoured for their outstanding achievements in teaching, research and innovation. Dr. Saha’s selection highlights his significant role in advancing psychological sciences and fostering academic excellence in India.
With more than 14 years of teaching experience and nearly four years of dedicated research work, Dr. Saha has emerged as a leading academic in the fields of forensic psychology, neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience. His pioneering contributions have helped strengthen these emerging disciplines in India while enhancing the academic and research profile of Rajiv Gandhi University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Saha has been committed to promoting innovative teaching methods and encouraging students to engage in scientific inquiry and research. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Saha has played a key role in developing research infrastructure at RGU. One of his notable achievements is the establishment of the Neuropsychology Laboratory, which has provided students and researchers with valuable opportunities to conduct advanced studies in brain-behaviour relationships and cognitive functioning. The facility has contributed significantly to strengthening psychological research in the region.
Dr. Saha has also been actively involved in social and community initiatives, particularly in supporting victims of child abuse.
