RGU’s Dr. Proshanto Kr. Saha wins National Teachers’ Award 2025 for pioneering work in psychology

NEW DELHI, September 5: Dr. Proshanto Kr. Saha, Head of the Department of Psychology at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Arunachal Pradesh, has been honoured with the National Teachers’ Award 2025 by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Friday. He was among 21 distinguished faculty members from higher education institutions recognised for their outstanding contributions to teaching and research on Teachers’ Day.

With more than 14 years of teaching experience and nearly four years in research, Dr. Saha has made pioneering contributions in forensic psychology, neuropsychology, and cognitive neuroscience, advancing these emerging fields in India. His academic leadership has enriched student learning and strengthened the university’s research profile.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Saha has established vital institutions such as the Neuropsychology Lab at RGU and has actively supported victims of child abuse, combining scientific expertise with social commitment.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Dr. Saha, hailing him as a source of inspiration who has blended academic brilliance with compassion for society.

The National Teachers’ Awards, instituted by the Ministry of Education, are presented annually to celebrate excellence in teaching and academic innovation across higher education institutions and polytechnics.

Dr. Saha’s recognition underscores both his scholarly achievements and his role in nurturing future generations of psychologists, while also reinforcing Arunachal Pradesh’s growing presence in India’s academic landscape.
