Itanagar, September 5, 2025: In a remarkable story of dedication, innovation and perseverance, Ms. Nang Ekthani Mounglang, Headmistress of Government Secondary School (GSS) Pachin in Papum Pare district, has been conferred the prestigious National Teachers’ Award 2025 for her outstanding contribution to education and school transformation.

The honour, presented on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, recognizes Ms. Mounglang’s exceptional efforts in revitalizing a government school that was once struggling with poor academic performance and low public confidence. Her leadership has transformed GSS Pachin into a model institution, earning admiration from educators, parents and the wider community.

Just two years ago, the school faced significant challenges, recording a pass percentage of only 27 percent in public examinations. Determined to improve learning outcomes and create a more engaging educational environment, Ms. Mounglang introduced a series of reforms aimed at enhancing both academic performance and student participation.

Among her key initiatives was the introduction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-enabled classrooms, which helped modernize teaching methods and make learning more interactive. She also promoted co-curricular and extracurricular activities to encourage holistic development among students, recognizing that education extends beyond textbooks and examinations.

Equally important was her emphasis on strengthening partnerships with parents and the local community. Through regular engagement and collaboration, she fostered a supportive ecosystem that encouraged students to remain focused on their studies and personal growth.

The results of these efforts have been extraordinary. Under her leadership, the school’s pass percentage jumped from 27 percent to 81 percent in 2024. This year, GSS Pachin achieved an unprecedented milestone by recording a 100 percent pass rate, becoming the first government school in the capital region to accomplish the feat.
