New Terminal at Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar Inaugurated: AAI Showcases Blend of Modernity

ITANAGAR, September 5: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has added a new milestone in Indian civil aviation with the operationalisation of the state-of-the-art Terminal Building at Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar. The terminal, inaugurated on September 4, stands as a symbol of modern design, sustainability, and passenger-friendly facilities, redefining the travel experience in the Northeast.

The event was graced by Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu, AAI Chairman Shri Vipin Kumar, and senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and AAI.

Highlighting AAI’s commitment to transforming air travel, the dignitaries underscored the importance of the new facility in connecting Arunachal Pradesh with the rest of the country and beyond.

Alongside the inauguration, a series of unique amenities were unveiled, including the UDAN Yatri Café, AVSAR Outlet, a dedicated Kids Zone, and the Flybrary (in-airport library), designed to elevate passenger comfort and promote local culture.

Speaking at the occasion, the Union Civil Aviation Minister praised the project as a testament to the government’s focus on regional connectivity and sustainable infrastructure. Chief Minister Pema Khandu also emphasized the airport’s role in boosting tourism, trade, and socio-economic development in Arunachal Pradesh.

With this development, Donyi Polo Airport is set to emerge not only as a travel hub but also as a vibrant cultural space reflecting the rich heritage of the region.
