Aizawl, September 16, 2025: Pu Lalthansanga, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, officially launched the pictorial guide titled “Pictorial Guide on the Herpetofauna Discovered/Reappraised from Mizoram” at the Mizoram EIACP Hub, in collaboration with the Mizoram Pollution Control Board and the Developmental Biology & Herpetology Lab, Department of Zoology, Mizoram University.
Mizoram, situated within the Indo-Myanmar biodiversity hotspot, is home to a wide array of unique and rare species, many of which remain poorly studied and undocumented. The guide aims to assist researchers, conservationists, and the public in identifying and learning about these species, which include amphibians and reptiles that are difficult to spot in their natural habitats.
The guide is expected to enhance the understanding and conservation of the state’s diverse herpetofauna and support scientific research and ecological awareness in the region.
