Manipur Inaugurates First Bio-Input Resource Centre to Promote Natural Farming

IMPHAL WEST, September 4, 2025: Manipur took a significant step towards sustainable agriculture today with the inauguration of its first Bio-Input Resource Centre (BRC) at Khurkhul Makha Leikai. The center, established under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), was officially opened by Shri A.K. Sinha, IAS, Principal Secretary (Agriculture), Government of Manipur.

The new BRC, organized by the District Agriculture Officer, Imphal West, is poised to be a hub for promoting eco-friendly farming practices. It will provide farmers with access to bio-inputs, reducing their dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Additionally, the center will serve as a training ground, equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful natural farming.

The inauguration ceremony saw a strong turnout from the local farming community, signaling widespread support for the initiative. Dignitaries present at the event included Shri Peter Salam, Director of Agriculture; Shri S. Kennedy, District Agriculture Officer, Imphal West; and Shri I. Shanta Singh, Pradhan of Khurkhul GP. Their participation underscored the government's commitment to supporting farmer-centric growth.
