Imphal, Sept 5: The Government of Manipur celebrated Teachers' Day 2025 with a state-level function at the City Convention Centre, recognising the invaluable contribution of teachers and educational institutions in shaping the future of the state through quality education and academic excellence.
The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Education (Schools), Government of Manipur, the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Manipur, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), and the Adult Education Department, Government of Manipur.
The celebration was graced by Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Government of Manipur, as the Chief Guest. R.K. Dinesh Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary (Higher & Technical Education, SCERT, Adult Education, Administrative Reforms, and MAHUD) and Commissioner (Education), presided over the programme, while Naorem Praveen Singh, IAS, Secretary (Education-S, Youth Affairs & Sports, OBC & SC, and MA), attended as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel highlighted the indispensable role of teachers in nation-building, stating that educators do much more than impart academic knowledge. He said teachers nurture values such as integrity, compassion, discipline, harmony, and responsibility, helping students become responsible citizens capable of contributing positively to society.
The Chief Secretary also congratulated Koijam Machasana, Arts Graduate Teacher of Ghari Upper Primary School, for receiving the prestigious National Teachers' Award 2025 from President Droupadi Murmu. He described her achievement as a matter of immense pride for Manipur and an inspiration to the teaching community across the state.
As part of the celebrations, the government honoured outstanding educators and institutions for their contributions to education. The State Teachers' Award 2025 was presented to eight distinguished teachers in recognition of their exemplary service, dedication, and innovative teaching practices. Their contributions have played a significant role in improving educational standards and nurturing young learners across Manipur.
In addition, the Manipur State Award for Educational Excellence 2025 was conferred upon eight colleges for their outstanding achievements in academic development, institutional excellence, and contribution to higher education. The awards acknowledged the efforts of educational institutions in promoting quality learning, research, and holistic student development.

The programme also featured cultural performances, felicitations, and messages highlighting the importance of education in fostering social progress and sustainable development.
