Kuki-Zo Council Urges MHA to Ensure Security Along NH-02, Appeals for Public Cooperation

Kangpokpi, September 4, 2025: The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has issued a statement responding to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) concern over commuter safety on National Highway-02 (Imphal-Dimapur) passing through Kangpokpi District.

The Council clarified that no untoward incidents have taken place in recent times, whether relating to commuters or the transportation of essential goods along the route. However, the Council emphasized the need for stronger security measures to ensure continued safety and smooth movement.

In its appeal, the Council requested the MHA to deploy Central Security Forces along NH-02 to safeguard both commuters and cargo. Referring to Resolution No. 2 passed during the Kangpokpi Public Meeting on 29th July 2025, the KZC also urged the public in Kangpokpi District to extend full cooperation to Security Forces deployed by the Government of India.

The statement, jointly signed by KZC leaders including Chairman Henlianthang Thanglet, Co-ordinator Ch Ajang Khongsai, General Secretary Thangzamang, Treasurer Rev. Dr. G.S. Gangte, and other council members, highlights the importance of collaboration between the community and authorities in maintaining peace and security along this crucial highway.

Given its role as a lifeline for Manipur and neighboring states, the NH-02 (Imphal-Dimapur road) remains vital for the movement of essential goods, making security coordination a pressing necessity.
