Guwahati, Sept. 27, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated the newly constructed Jayanta Hazarika Flyover at Panikhaiti, Narengi, marking a significant step in easing urban traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the state capital.
Named in honour of the legendary Assamese artist Jayanta Hazarika, the flyover has been built at a cost of ₹69.32 crore. Stretching 530.52 metres in length and 7.5 metres in width, the project was completed within 48 months.
The Chief Minister said the new infrastructure will play a vital role in decongesting traffic and ensuring smoother travel between Guwahati and Upper Assam, while also enhancing access to tourist destinations such as Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and Mayong.

Sharing the development on social media, Dr. Sarma described the new projects as “Bridges of prosperity,” adding that the two flyovers inaugurated today in congested parts of Guwahati would provide seamless connectivity to the city’s business hubs and cultural hotspots.
The Jayanta Hazarika Flyover is expected not only to improve daily commutes for thousands of residents but also to contribute to economic growth and tourism in the region.
