IMPHAL, August 15, 2025: In a major anti-narcotics operation, a joint team of the Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested two individuals on Friday and seized over two kilograms of suspected heroin.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mr. Jenarul Mia (21), son of Janjali Mia of Shasani, Maldah district, West Bengal, and Mr. Deba Das (18), son of Lakshi Das of Ward No. 2, Bokajan Bazar, Karbi Anglong district, Assam.

According to officials, the team recovered two packets of suspected heroin powder weighing 2.066 kilograms from their possession. In addition, two mobile phones and a motorcycle allegedly used for transporting the contraband were also seized.
Police said the arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in Manipur, which has long been a transit point for narcotics smuggling from the Golden Triangle region. The seized items have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and networks involved.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across the state.
