Tripura CM Chairs First Meeting of State-Level Advisory Committee on Information & Cultural Affairs

Agartala, Aug 6, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Wednesday chaired the inaugural meeting of the State-Level Advisory Committee under the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs, marking a significant step towards strengthening the state's cultural and information sectors.

The meeting focused on reviewing the department's existing infrastructure and evaluating its current programmes and initiatives. Discussions were also held on strategic plans aimed at enhancing the department's functioning and expanding its role in preserving and promoting Tripura's cultural heritage.

During the session, newly appointed members of the advisory committee were formally introduced. The committee comprises prominent personalities from various fields of art, culture, literature, and media, who are expected to contribute their expertise in shaping the state's cultural policies and information dissemination strategies.

Addressing the members, Chief Minister Saha highlighted the importance of preserving Tripura's rich cultural traditions while adapting to changing times. He stressed the need to encourage healthy cultural practices, support local artists and cultural organisations, and ensure that the state's diverse heritage is effectively passed on to future generations.

The Chief Minister also underscored the growing role of information and communication in modern governance, emphasizing the importance of adopting innovative approaches to connect with the public and promote awareness about government initiatives.

Officials said the advisory committee would serve as a key consultative and guiding body for the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs. Its recommendations are expected to help align cultural programmes and information outreach activities with the state's broader development objectives.

The formation of the committee reflects the government's commitment to fostering cultural growth, strengthening public engagement, and ensuring that Tripura's unique identity continues to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
