IMPHAL, August 24, 2025: Security forces in Manipur have intensified counter-insurgency operations, arresting four active cadres from different proscribed valley-based militant outfits over the past two days in Imphal East, Thoubal, and Bishnupur districts.
On August 22, an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Defence Force), identified as Leimapokpam Shanjeet Singh alias Naobi (52) of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, was arrested from his residence under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East. Authorities said he was actively involved in extortion activities, targeting schools, government officials, and the general public in the valley. Security personnel seized a mobile handset, an Aadhaar card, and a KCP demand letter from his possession.
The following day, August 23, three more militants were apprehended in separate operations:
• A self-styled Private of the RPF/PLA, Oinam Bungobi Meitei alias Langmei (31) of Ishika Awang Leikai, Imphal East, was arrested at Chingarel Tejpur, Waiton Lamkhai under Lamlai Police Station. An Aadhaar card was recovered from him.
• An active cadre of PREPAK (PRO), Khundongbam Biker alias Khaiba alias Pari (23) of Heirok Part-II, Thoubal district, was nabbed from Angtha village under Andro Police Station, Imphal East.
• A KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) cadre, Pukhrambam Tangba Singh (34) of Ningthoukhong Mayai Leikai, Bishnupur district, was arrested from his residence.

Police said the arrests have dealt a blow to the network of militant groups engaged in extortion, recruitment, and anti-state activities across Manipur’s valley districts. Investigations are underway to trace their linkages and activities.
Security agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to intensify operations against outlawed outfits to curb insurgent activities in the state.
