Guwahati, August 16: Assam has begun extensive preparations for the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is scheduled to arrive in the state on August 29 to participate in the Panchayat Pratinidhi Sanmilan, a major gathering expected to bring together thousands of grassroots representatives and political leaders from across the state.
Ahead of the event, a high-level review meeting was held on Saturday at the Khanapara Veterinary College Ground in Guwahati, where the programme will take place. During the review, the Chief Minister assessed the progress of preparations and directed officials to ensure seamless arrangements for the large-scale event. Discussions focused on venue management, security, transportation, parking facilities, crowd management, medical assistance, and other logistical requirements to facilitate the smooth conduct of the programme.
The Panchayat Pratinidhi Sanmilan is expected to serve as an important platform for interaction between the Union leadership and elected representatives of Assam’s Panchayati Raj institutions. State leaders emphasized that the event reflects the government's commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and enhancing coordination with local representatives who play a key role in implementing development programmes.
