PM Modi to Visit Golaghat on September 8; NRL Bio-Treatment Plant Inauguration Planned

Golaghat, August 12, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam's Golaghat district on September 8, where he will inaugurate the Bio-Treatment Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and address a public gathering. The visit is expected to mark a significant milestone in Assam's industrial and environmental development, with the new facility aimed at promoting sustainable refinery operations and eco-friendly industrial practices.

In preparation for the Prime Minister's visit, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a high-level review meeting at the Assam Police Convention Centre in Dergaon on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by state ministers, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), senior administrative officials, police officers, and representatives of various departments involved in organising the programme.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the arrangements related to security, traffic management, venue preparation, public convenience, and logistical coordination. He directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Prime Minister's visit.

Dr. Sarma emphasised the importance of meticulous planning and efficient execution, stating that the state government is "leaving no stone unturned" to make the Prime Minister's visit historic and memorable. He instructed officials to maintain the highest standards of coordination and preparedness while ensuring the safety and convenience of participants expected to attend the event.

The Bio-Treatment Plant at Numaligarh Refinery is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the refinery's environmental management systems by enhancing the treatment of industrial effluents and supporting sustainable industrial operations. Officials said the project reflects the growing emphasis on environmentally responsible development and cleaner technologies in India's energy sector.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to address a large public gathering during the visit, with thousands of people expected to participate from Golaghat and neighbouring districts.

Officials said extensive preparations are underway to accommodate the anticipated turnout while ensuring seamless traffic management, security arrangements, and public amenities. The visit is expected to reinforce the Centre's commitment to infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and industrial growth in Assam, while highlighting Numaligarh Refinery's role as a key contributor to the region's economic progress.
