Shillong, August 7, 2025: Shri Tenzing Norbu Thongdok, Member of the North Eastern Council (NEC), along with Shri Satinder Kumar Bhalla, Secretary, NEC, and Shri Som Kamei, Planning Adviser, NEC, inaugurated a consultative workshop for the North East Council Plan 2047 with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
The workshop marks a significant step in laying out a visionary roadmap for the holistic development of the North Eastern Region over the next two decades. With an emphasis on inclusive planning and strategic growth, the session aims to gather expert insights and stakeholder perspectives to shape the NEC Plan 2047.
Speaking at the event, officials highlighted the importance of long-term planning to harness the region’s potential in areas such as infrastructure, connectivity, education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
The consultative approach adopted in the session is expected to ensure that the plan reflects the aspirations of the people and addresses regional disparities while aligning with national priorities.
The NEC Plan 2047 is envisioned as a transformative framework to accelerate prosperity and improve quality of life across the North East.
