Aizawl, Aug 6, 2025: The Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme (MUHCS) has reopened its registration process for the month of August through a special grace period enrolment drive, providing households with a final opportunity to join the state’s flagship healthcare programme. Officials have reported that a total of 18,294 households have already enrolled under the scheme, reflecting growing public participation in the initiative.
According to the authorities, the current registration phase is being conducted as a grace period for households that were unable to enrol during the regular registration window. However, applicants joining during this period will be required to pay registration fees that are 50 per cent higher than the standard enrolment rates.
Data available as of August 4 indicates that an additional 99 households have registered under the General Ward category since the grace period began. Meanwhile, 10 households each have enrolled under the Semi-Private and Private categories.
During the regular enrolment period held between April and June 2025, households were required to pay ₹2,500 for General Ward coverage, ₹5,000 for Semi-Private coverage, and ₹10,000 for the Private category. Under the ongoing grace period, these fees have increased to ₹3,750, ₹7,500, and ₹15,000 respectively.

Health officials stated that the revised fee structure is intended to encourage timely registration during the standard enrolment period while still providing an opportunity for late applicants to join the scheme. They emphasized that MUHCS offers comprehensive healthcare coverage and financial protection against medical expenses, making it a valuable support system for families across the state.
The government has urged eligible households that have not yet enrolled to take advantage of the grace period before registrations close. Officials noted that wider participation in the scheme would contribute to improved healthcare access and strengthen the state’s efforts toward achieving universal health coverage for all residents of Mizoram.
