Aizawl, August 20, 2025: Chief Minister Lalduhoma today held a meeting with leaders of the Mizoram Rubber Society (MIRSO) at his office, where he approved the Society’s proposal to expand the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission (2nd Phase) by an additional 173 hectares.
MIRSO President Pu Hrangzuala submitted a detailed report on the ongoing works under the second phase, particularly in Mamit District. He expressed appreciation for the government’s support and conveyed the strong enthusiasm among cultivators, noting that demand for inclusion in the mission remains high. The Society has requested an additional allocation of 173 hectares over the already sanctioned 400 hectares, which the Chief Minister has now approved.
The Chief Minister assured that all essential support, including 100 rubber smoke houses and subsidy assistance, will be provided to ensure successful implementation. He also acknowledged the contribution of rubber growers in making the mission a success, affirming the government’s commitment to continue promoting the crop across Mizoram.
Under the 2nd phase of the Rubber Mission, a total of 2,400 hectares of land is targeted for cultivation. Of this, 1,200 hectares will be funded through NABARD assistance, while the remaining area will be supported under the Handholding Scheme. With the new approval, the Handholding Scheme will now cover 1,373 hectares of land.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the mission is a long-term investment for rural livelihood improvement and economic growth. He urged cultivators to actively participate and assured them of the government’s full backing in making Mizoram a significant rubber-producing state.
