Meghalaya’s 2nd Cabinet Retreat Concludes with Focus on Collaborative Governance and Development

Shillong, August 26, 2025: The Meghalaya government successfully wrapped up its 2nd Cabinet Retreat, building upon the strong foundation laid by the inaugural session earlier this year. Held under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, the retreat focused on eight key thematic areas critical for the state's holistic development.

The themes deliberated included Caring and Empowering State, Affordable and Quality Healthcare, Priority Sustainable Development Goals, Finance and Planning, Human Resource and Governance, Citizen Services and Welfare Programs, Roads and Connectivity, and Housing for All.

Chief Minister Sangma highlighted the maturity of discussions this time, noting a shift from merely identifying challenges to collaboratively finding cross-sectoral solutions. Departments emerged from the sessions ready to work in closer coordination with a shared sense of urgency and direction.

Emphasizing that real progress requires compassion beyond policy, the Chief Minister urged officers, especially those serving in rural and remote areas, to lead with empathy, humility, and a deep sense of duty. The retreat symbolized Meghalaya’s commitment to integrated governance and inclusive development, with a renewed focus on teamwork and citizen-centric approaches.
