Itanagar, August 29, 2025: In a significant boost to sports development and youth empowerment, Chief Minister Pema Khandu felicitated 411 athletes - including inspirational para-athletes - from across Arunachal Pradesh, distributing ₹2.49 crore in cash incentives for their achievements at state, national, and international levels. This recognition builds on the government’s ongoing commitment; over the years, ₹7.1 crore has been distributed to 940 sportspersons, underscoring a robust policy to support athletic talent.
The occasion also marked the launch of the Chief Minister’s Athlete Coaching & Empowerment Scheme, revamped from the earlier Meritorious Sportsperson Scholarship. The upgraded scheme is designed not only to reward sporting excellence but also to provide coaching, training, and holistic support to nurture future champions of Arunachal.

Chief Minister Khandu was joined by Deputy CM Chowna Mein, MP Tapir Gao, Speaker Tesam Pongte, Ministers Pasang D Sona and Kento Jini, Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, and Advisor Zingnu Namchoom at the ceremony, where leaders lauded the role of sports in youth empowerment and the rising profile of the state in the national sporting arena.
