Mawkriah, Aug 6, 2025: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday lauded the achievements of floriculture farmers in Mawkriah village, where the cultivation of Oriental Lilium flowers has seen remarkable success under the state’s Floriculture 1.0 Mission.
At a felicitation programme marking the second successful harvest of Oriental Lilium, CM Sangma praised the farmers’ dedication, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit, calling it a model for high-value crop cultivation in the state.

Under the Floriculture Mission, the government is investing ₹240 crore to support farmers through improved infrastructure, training, and market linkages, with the aim of expanding Meghalaya’s footprint in the floriculture sector.
Officials noted that the initiative is expected to boost rural incomes, create employment opportunities, and position the state as a key player in India’s high-value flower market.
