Imphal, August 12, 2025: The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur has invited applications for a range of welfare schemes for the financial year 2025–26 aimed at improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities and destitute older persons across the state.
The department announced that applications will be accepted for five major welfare schemes designed to provide financial assistance, educational support, and social security to eligible beneficiaries. The initiative reflects the state government's continued commitment to promoting inclusive development and extending support to vulnerable sections of society.
The schemes open for application include the Scholarship for Students with Disabilities, which seeks to assist students pursuing education by helping meet academic expenses. Another scheme, the Unemployment Allowance for Educated Unemployed Persons with Disabilities, aims to provide financial support to educated individuals with disabilities who are actively seeking employment.
The department has also invited applications for the Marriage Incentive Award for Persons with Disabilities, a scheme intended to encourage social inclusion and provide financial assistance to eligible couples. In addition, beneficiaries can apply for Assistance for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances, which supports the procurement of essential assistive devices to improve mobility, communication, and daily living for persons with disabilities.
The fifth scheme, Financial Assistance to Destitute Older Persons, is designed to provide economic support to elderly individuals who are without adequate means of livelihood, helping them meet their basic needs and improve their quality of life.
According to the notification, application forms will be made available from 20 August 2025 at the respective District Social Welfare Offices (DSWOs) during working days. Applicants can also download the prescribed application forms from the department's official website.
Eligible applicants have been advised to carefully complete the forms and submit them along with all required supporting documents to their respective District Social Welfare Offices on or before 29 September 2025. Officials have urged applicants to ensure that all documents are properly attached to avoid delays in processing.
The Directorate stated that the schemes are intended to strengthen social welfare services and ensure that deserving beneficiaries receive timely assistance. By extending financial aid, educational support, and access to assistive devices, the department aims to promote greater inclusion, independence, and dignity for persons with disabilities while also supporting elderly citizens facing financial hardship.
