Imphal, August 12, 2025: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla participated in a series of events on Tuesday to mark International Youth Day 2025 and promote public health and patriotism, highlighting the crucial role of young people in nation-building and sustainable development.
The Governor attended the state-level International Youth Day celebrations held at the City Convention Centre under the theme "Local Youth Action for SDGs and Beyond." The programme brought together government officials, youth organisations, students, and community leaders to discuss the importance of youth participation in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contributing to inclusive social and economic progress.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla emphasised that the youth are the driving force behind innovation, development, and positive social change. He encouraged young people to actively engage in community development initiatives, environmental protection, entrepreneurship, education, and public service while working towards building a prosperous and inclusive society.
As part of the programme, the Governor launched a two-month Intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The campaign aims to strengthen public awareness about tuberculosis (TB), promote early diagnosis, and encourage timely treatment as part of the government's efforts to eliminate the disease.
To further support TB control initiatives, Governor Bhalla also distributed AI-assisted portable X-ray machines for TB screening. Officials said the advanced diagnostic equipment would significantly improve early detection of tuberculosis, particularly in remote and underserved areas, enabling faster diagnosis and treatment while reducing the spread of the disease. The deployment of AI-enabled technology is expected to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of TB screening programmes across the state.
Health officials noted that the intensified IEC campaign would focus on educating communities about TB symptoms, prevention measures, and the availability of free diagnosis and treatment under the National TB Elimination Programme. The initiative is aimed at encouraging greater public participation in the fight against tuberculosis and ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to timely healthcare services.

Later in the day, the Governor attended the Tiranga Concerts organised under the Har Ghar Tiranga 2025 campaign at the Palace Auditorium. The cultural programme featured patriotic performances celebrating India's rich heritage, unity, and the sacrifices of the nation's freedom fighters ahead of Independence Day.
Addressing the audience, Governor Bhalla called upon citizens to unite in the spirit of patriotism and actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by proudly displaying the National Flag at their homes and institutions. He said such initiatives strengthen the bond between citizens and the nation while inspiring collective pride in India's democratic values and cultural heritage.
Officials said the day's events reflected the state government's commitment to empowering youth, strengthening public health systems, and fostering patriotism through community participation as the country prepares to celebrate its 79th Independence Day.
