Imphal, August 14, 2025: Intensifying its campaign against extortion and criminal activities, Manipur Police and security forces have arrested three active militant cadres belonging to proscribed outfits KCP (PWG), KCP (MFL), and UNLF (P) in a series of intelligence-based combing operations and cordon-and-search drives across the state.
On August 13, police apprehended Thokchom Premjit Singh alias BOC (23) of Khumbong Laingam Khul, under Patsoi Police Station, Imphal West district, from his residence. Singh, an active cadre of KCP (PWG), was allegedly involved in extortion activities. Items seized from his possession included four demand letters and four money-receipt memos of KCP (PWG), along with a mobile phone.
The following day, August 14, security forces arrested Hidam Aboy Singh (30) of Nongren Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district, from Tairenpokpi Makha Leikai. Singh, identified as an active cadre of KCP (MFL), was reportedly engaged in extorting money from the public in the valley areas and had been involved in kidnappings for ransom.

In a separate operation on August 13, Manipur Police detained Sairem Saxena Meetei alias Athoiba (33) of Khurai Puthiba Leikai Arambam Leirak, Imphal East district, from Thangal Bazaar. An active cadre of UNLF (P), he was accused of threatening members of the public at the busy market by brandishing a pistol. From his possession, police recovered one pistol with two magazines, 21 rounds of ammunition, a pistol holster, a gun license, a mobile phone, and a black side bag.
Manipur Police stated that these arrests are part of sustained operations to dismantle militant networks engaged in extortion, intimidation, and violent crimes in the state, particularly in the lead-up to Independence Day celebrations.
