Kokrajhar, August 13, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Kokrajhar today, where he addressed the media and participated in programmes despite heavy rains, receiving an enthusiastic welcome from local residents.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to protecting indigenous rights, Dr. Sarma announced plans to enhance the number of areas where restrictions will be in place for outsiders to purchase land belonging to indigenous communities by expanding tribal belts and blocks.

Speaking on the progress in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), he said sustained government efforts have firmly established peace, with the administration’s “biggest commitment” being to maintain it and guide the region toward development.

On healthcare, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that cancer treatment remains fully covered under both the Ayushman Bharat and Ayushman Asom health insurance schemes, ensuring patients receive necessary treatment without financial hardship.

The visit reinforced the state government’s dual focus on safeguarding indigenous land rights while driving development and ensuring access to essential healthcare for all.
