GUWAHATI, August 16, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday inaugurated the permanent campuses of the state-of-the-art Assam Cricket Academy (ACA) and the GTC Football Academy at Uttar Fulung in North Guwahati, marking a major milestone in the state government’s efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and nurture sporting talent.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration, the Chief Minister said the government’s vision extends beyond creating modern infrastructure. He emphasized that the primary objective is to develop talented athletes who can compete successfully at the national and international levels.
“Assam already has good sports infrastructure, but our goal is not merely to build facilities. Our focus is on creating talent,” Sarma said. He added that world-class athletes require world-class training environments, and the state government is committed to providing the best possible facilities for aspiring sportspersons.
The Chief Minister further stated that the government aims to establish high-quality sports infrastructure across every district of Assam to ensure that young athletes, regardless of their location, have access to professional coaching and modern training amenities. He noted that such initiatives would help identify and nurture promising talent from an early age.

The newly inaugurated Assam Cricket Academy and GTC Football Academy feature modern training facilities designed to meet professional standards.
