GUWAHATI, August 16, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday inaugurated the permanent campuses of the state-of-the-art Assam Cricket Academy (ACA) and the GTC Football Academy at Uttar Fulung, North Guwahati, marking a significant step in the state’s push to develop world-class sports infrastructure.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration, the Chief Minister stressed that the government’s objective goes beyond constructing physical infrastructure. “Assam has a lot of good infrastructure when it comes to sports, but our goal isn’t just building infrastructure, it is about creating talent,” he said.
He further underlined the state’s vision of producing internationally competitive athletes. “If we have to create world-class athletes, we have to create world-class facilities for them and that’s exactly what we are doing here in Assam,” Sarma noted, adding that the state aims to ensure the best training facilities in every district.

The new cricket and football academies are equipped with modern infrastructure and professional training environments, offering young athletes opportunities to hone their skills under expert guidance.
