Kohima, August 25: Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Governor of Manipur, was today sworn in as the 22nd Governor of Nagaland with additional charge in a solemn ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Justice Ashutosh Kumar, in the presence of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, members of his Cabinet, MLAs, MPs, senior bureaucrats, police and military officials, and representatives of civil society.
The new Governor was accorded the Rashtriya Salute by the Nagaland Police Mahila (IR) contingents as part of the formal proceedings. The ceremony was conducted by Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Bhalla pledged his “utmost commitment” to the progress of Nagaland and the welfare of its citizens, while continuing to discharge his responsibilities as Governor of Manipur.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated the new Governor through an official message, expressing confidence that Bhalla’s leadership and experience would provide valuable guidance for the state’s development agenda.
With this appointment, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla takes charge as the constitutional head of Nagaland at a time of crucial developmental and peace-building efforts, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment towards the state’s progress.
