The meeting, held at the Union Minister's official residence, focused on exploring various programmes and projects that could be implemented in Mizoram through the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

During the discussion, Lalnghinglova Hmar highlighted that Mizoram is predominantly a tribal state, with more than 90 per cent of its population belonging to Scheduled Tribes (STs). He said the state's unique demographic profile makes it deserving of special attention and support from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

The Minister noted that Mizoram has limited financial resources compared to many other states but remains committed to achieving balanced development. He said the state government is making every effort to improve the lives of its people, while seeking greater assistance from the Centre to bridge existing resource gaps.

"We are doing everything within our capacity to ensure development, but there are areas where we need the support of the Ministry to achieve our goals," Lalnghinglova Hmar said during the meeting.

He also submitted proposals highlighting the needs of tribal youth, particularly in the fields of education and sports, and sought enhanced central assistance to create better opportunities for young people in the state.

The Union Minister also welcomed the invitation extended by Lalnghinglova Hmar to visit Mizoram during one of the state's major festivals. He expressed his intention to visit the state later this year to gain a better understanding of its developmental priorities and tribal heritage.

Lalnghinglova Hmar was accompanied during the meeting by H. Lalramenga, Personal Secretary to the Minister. The meeting reflected the continued efforts of the Mizoram Government to strengthen cooperation with the Centre in advancing tribal welfare, youth development, education, tourism and sports in the state.
