Kohima, July 31, 2026: Governor of Nagaland Shri N. Kishore Yadav chaired a review meeting of the Planning & Transformation Department at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, focusing on the state's key development initiatives and strategies to accelerate inclusive growth.

During the meeting, Principal Secretary & Development Commissioner Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, presented an overview of the Department's ongoing and upcoming initiatives. These included the Annual Plan 2026–27, the Aspirational District and Block Programmes, progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the state's roadmap under Viksit Nagaland @2047 - a long-term vision framework aligned with the national goal of a developed India by 2047.
The presentation also highlighted advancements in Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, drone technology, and geospatial innovations being deployed to support evidence-based governance and sustainable development planning across the state. Officials noted that these technological tools are increasingly central to improving data accuracy, monitoring project implementation, and enabling more informed policy decisions.
Responding to the presentation, the Governor emphasised the importance of strategic planning, transparency, innovation, and technology-driven governance in accelerating inclusive and sustainable development across Nagaland. He observed that adopting modern tools such as GIS and drone-based monitoring can significantly enhance the efficiency and accountability of development programmes, ensuring that resources are utilised effectively and outcomes are measurable.
The Governor further urged the Department to strengthen inter-departmental coordination, noting that seamless collaboration between various government departments is essential to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure the timely execution of development projects. He stressed that the ultimate objective of all planning and policy initiatives should be tangible benefits for the people of Nagaland, particularly in aspirational districts and blocks that require focused attention.
The review meeting underscored the state government's continued commitment to data-driven and transparent governance, with the Planning & Transformation Department playing a central role in translating policy frameworks into on-ground outcomes.
